I am a guitar player who recently moved from Los
Angeles to Tampa and I am looking for another guitar
player and/or band to write songs with. I’ve never
played covers of anyone else’s music in a live
setting. (At least no covers that would be recognized
as cover tunes.) What’s the point? I play a bit of
keyboards and bass as well. I’ve played professionally
on several commercials for Sprint and Mazda while I
was in L.A. and I’ve worked as a hired gun in several
touring bands that you’ve probably never heard of.
My guitar style is kind of a warp of David Gilmour,
Joe Perry, Brian May, Ernie Isley & Alex Lifeson’s
techniques. I’m not a real flashy player - I think we
all got quite enough of that in the ‘80’s with all
that guitar hero stuff - I can do it, but guitar
pyrotechnics don’t sell records anymore -cohesive,
memorable songs still do. I’m into tone, sonic
appropriateness and the service of a song’s needs.
